Ashampoo GetBack Photo is designed to recover photos from any kind of storage media (internal and external) that is compatible with Windows. Once you have selected the device or drive and started your search operation, the program will search for deleted files and display the file names and thumbnails of the photos that can be recovered. You can select the photos that you want to recover and click on the “Keep selected photos” button to complete the operation. By default, photos are saved in your “Pictures” folder. You can change the default location using the configuration option in the main menu.

The configuration option also allows you to choose the type of scan you want to initiate. There are two scanning options available, Quick and Complex. The former option only scans for known image formats (JPG, PNG, BMP, GIF) and the latter option searches for all known image formats including RAW. Complex scan is recommended if you want to recover photos that were inside of word or pdf documents.
