Security Software Company McAfee on September 21 launched their new URL shortener service. Now there is already a lot of URL shortener service popular on the web like bit.ly, saf.li, ow.ly, etc. But McAfee seems to have something else in mind as they call are calling their new service “a secure URL shortener”, since all shortened URLs created with McAf.ee will be secure and it will not shorten or redirect any malicious url.
The service is in beta and uses McAfee’s Global Threat Intelligence information (same database used for SiteAdvisor) to create safe short URLs. The chrome extension places a McAfee icon on the navigation bar and allows user to create shortened URLs with a single click.
