Disk management tools are now built into Windows. If you were not aware, all newer MS operating systems starting from Vista include a disk management tool. The tool is good enough to format, create, delete and change drive letters of partitions. Merging partitions is also supported but the feature is limited, as users cannot merge partitions without deleting them first.
MiniTool Partition Wizard on the other hand is a very powerful tool with many features. It can resize partition, move partition, merge partition, extend partition, split partition, change cluster size, copy partition, copy disk, create, delete and format partitions, convert and explore partitions, hide and unhide partitions, convert dynamic disk to basic disk and much more. Unlike the built in Windows tool, it can merge and split partitions without formatting or deleting the partitions.
It includes three wizard options that are pretty much self-explanatory: copy partition wizard, copy disk wizard, and partition recovery wizard – which is used to recover lost files from a partition.
The developers are currently giving away free copies of MiniTool Partition Wizard Professional, which usually has a retail price of $39. To receive your free copy, access this page and subscribe to its newsletter.
