Yesterday, Panda Security released their 2015 consumer line, which features a brand new protection engine, labeled as XMT engine. According to Panda, XMT Engine achieved the best scores in detection, protection, usability, and resource usage on tests conducted by independent security firms such as AV-Comparatives, AV-TEST, and Virus Bulletin.
We downloaded the six months trial and found that the installer activated our subscription for 180 days, without needing any kind of key or registration. On the first launch, the program will ask you to enter your email address, which can be skipped.
The interface is very much similar to what we saw last year. All the important protection modules are displayed as tiles, which you can now manage as you usually do on the Windows 8 start menu. At the bottom of the interface, you will find the edit link, which allows you to add, remove, move, and arrange your tiles. If you are not a big fan of the tile-based interface, you can use the new scroll down start menu present on the top left corner to view the protection modules.
Panda Internet Security 2015 includes the following protection features: Antivirus, Firewall, Process Monitor, USB Vaccine, Wi-Fi Monitor, Rescue Kit, Parental Control, Data Shield, Application Control, Safe browsing, and Virtual Keyboard.
There is not much new to say, apart from the slight interface changes and the new XMT Engine, which Panda claims is the best out there. However, is it good enough for you? Find out with the 90 days trial.
