UltimateZip is a more versatile alternative to one of the most popular free file compression tools for windows, 7-Zip. UltimateZip has a better interface, a portable mode and an automated backup feature. The interface uses ribbon styled tabs and will feel familiar if you have used any recent version of MS Office.
When it comes to archive file support, UltimateZip is very similar to 7-Zip. It supports creating and extracting archives of the following formats: ZIP, ZIPX, 7-ZIP, LHA (LZH), CAB, TAR, GZIP, BZIP2, XXE, UUE, and MIME (Base 64) files. Version 7 is the latest from the developer and completely supports the newer 7-Zip format (LZMA2 method). However, support for some compression file type is limited to viewing and extracting only. Such archive file types include RAR, ARJ, ARC, ACE and ZOO.
