UnHackMe is designed to detect and remove a specific type of malware known as rootkits. Traditional antivirus and security programs cannot detect rootkits due to their advanced encryption and compression techniques. Rootkits work by providing system level access to hackers without the permission and knowledge of the system administrator. Remote connections and all operations carried out by hackers are kept hidden by appearing to be a system process.
UnHackMe analyzes the boot process of windows until the desktop loads to detect rootkits. The interface of the program is nothing out of the ordinary. To start a scan, you have to use the “Check me now” button, which provides two different scan options: online multi antivirus scan and anti-malware scan. The first option uses Virus total to scan your files, while the second option scans your files using the local database. The developers claim that the program is also capable of removing Trojans, backdoor programs, viruses, worms, adware, and search redirecting malware.
