Google Instant predicts searches as you type

Google Instant, the latest advancement introduced by Google for its search engine fulfills the much awaited ” search before you type” criterion.This feature was Google’s most ambitious dream since the year 1999.Few initial demos failed in the process because of flaws and loop holes.However, this incredible engineering challenge has been won by the Google team.

This new feature processes the query entered in the search box, predicts the most likely completion and streams results in real time for those prediction. The result and the prediction gets updated for every letter you enter in your search  box rendering faster search service.When you have the correct prediction in the search box, you are done with the search and there is no need to hit the enter key anymore.

Notable features of the Google Instant includes :

  • Dynamic Results – Dynamic display of the relevant searches allows a quick search of the item of users choice.
  • Predictions – Google automatically predicts the rest of the search query in light gray text before the typing is finished.So when the right prediction is found, the search ends there with all the required items listed below.
  • Scroll to search – Scrolling through predictions lets the user to see the result with the hitting of down arrow.

With Google Instant, each search time reduces by 2-5 seconds making the entire search process shorter in duration which is its ultimate goal.Right now the feature is available in the US, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Spain and the UK on Chrome, Safari, Firefox and the IE 8 environment.It will be soon available to the entire globe and all platforms.
