After the test release of the beta version in June, 2010, the final stable version of Windows Live Essentials 2011 has been released by Microsoft today. The suite, being a Windows add-on, is a package of products that enhances the day to day computing experience of the users of Windows PC. The new version of WLS 2011 provides an updated and improved version of Windows Messenger, Photo Gallery, Movie Maker, Mail, Windows Live Writer, Family Safety, Windows Live Mesh, Messenger Companion, Bing bar, Outlook Connector Pack, Microsoft Silverlight.
The Suite includes a hybrid of software and services and also provides other Windows Live properties like Hotmail and Skydrive that are not a traditional part of the suite. The photo gallery has been enriched with Photo fusing to blend photos together and improve facial recognition. Bloggers will surely enjoy the new look and features of Windows Live Writer, a popular blog authoring tool. Social networking has been incorporated into Live Messenger and Mesh has been improved with synchronized storage upto 5 GB while Live Mail continues to provide add free access to Hotmail.
Microsoft has laboured to integrate Windows 7 with WLS 2011 by employing new Ribbon UI and jumplist technology. Beta users of the WLS 2011 can upgrade the installed software whereas new users will have the option to install the entire suit or only the selected items with custom installation.
